Organisation and employees

The Prison and Probation Service is organised into a headquarters, six regional offices and a Transport Service. Each region has remand prisons, prisons and probation units, which co-operate to help clients adjust in the best way possible to a life without crime.

Prison officers, inspectors, transport staff, nurses, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, office workers. In the Prison and Probation Service there are many different professions. The majority are prison officers, who also work as contact persons.   

Contact persons can deal, for example, with planning leave or organising treatment in co-operation with other authorities.
